No matter where you are in your social media journey, we all need to consider how we market our business. Something that may have worked for a while may not be working anymore. How do you know until you investigate? If you need to re-evaluate your strategy, here are some of 2022’s best practices for social media:

Build your presence on the right social networks for you. There are so many choices when it comes to social networks! Choosing the best network for your social media posting largely comes down to your target audience. Depending on age, location, and gender your target audience will spend time on different platforms and make their buying decisions on different platforms.

Set goals and audit them. Knowing your goals and checking in on your analytics is the only way to know if you are making progress. Have you been growing a lot recently? Why is that? Check in on your recent best-performing content and break down the individual factors that could be contributing to your success. These same reflections can be used when you are noticing a decline in your engagement.

Specify your guidelines. If you are not the one posting for your cheap social media marketing strategies, specify guidelines for those that do. You should tell your social media manager:

  • Who is your target audience
  • What tone you would like your posts to be in
  • What hashtags to use

Cross-post to different platforms. Once you have spent time building your presence on a platform, it is time to start cross-posting. This means sharing almost identical content around the same time as a different platform. Different networks have different standards for post style. For example, Facebook allows links while Instagram does not. If you posted a blog, you can also separate important items into posts to promote the blog.

Evaluate trends. You don’t have to participate in every trend, and you probably shouldn’t. This may sound counter-intuitive for social media marketing, but what is best for your niche doesn’t always blend with the current trends on social media. Some can be adapted to fit but others don’t make sense. If this is the case, it is ok to let that one pass and wait for the next trend to come along.
